Scherly Leon, MD, MS (Director of Finance)

Scherly Leon, MD, is a board-certified physician in Internal Medicine. She completed Nephrology Fellowship at State University of New York at Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. She received her medical degree from State University of New York at Stony Brook and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at New York-Presbyterian/Queens. She also holds a Master of Science in Biomedical Science from Barry University. She is currently in the Public Health/Preventive Medicine Residency Program at the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) and will complete an MPH in Community Health at CUNY Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy (CUNY SPH) in 2020.

Dr. Leon is active in several professional and community organizations. She is a member of the American College of Physicians, American College of Preventive Medicine, American Society of Nephrology (ASN), and currently serves on the ASN Media and Communications Committee and co-leads ASN "Women's Health and Research in Nephrology" community.

Dr. Leon is passionate about patient education, health advocacy, public policy, and addressing health disparities with the aim of advancing health equity. Dr. Leon has an interest in the use of social media in medical and patient education. She serves as an advisor for the Nephrology Social Media Collective, and is a faculty member in NephJC (online nephrology journal club) and Nephrology Business Leadership University (NBLU).
